Affordable Homes. This article from the Herts and Lea Valley Star newspaper is of interest. Did residents have a chance to vote for the B3Living that the Borough have "teamed" up with? Did the entire Borough have a chance to vote for Cllr Seeby? It would appear that Council Tax payers are helping this "Team" to profiteer as some properties will be sold. The Borough is also set to make even more money from Council tax.
Fascism is business running government, Communism is the other way around. Communitarian, the system we are currently experiencing is a mixture of Fascism, Communism and Capitalism.
Little wonder residents are denied any democratic voice when having their environment destroyed by rampant development that in reality is unnecessary - please see film "Hidden in Plain View."
The wording in this article, allegedly I believe, has all the hallmarks of social engineering/nudge whereby use of certain words pacify the reader. It gives the impression the developments are for the good of the area. Terms such as "Affordable Housing" and "Priority given to local residents" are, allegedly I believe, meant to smooth over what in reality will probably be a social disaster!
Page 3 of the Herts and Lea Valley Star, dated Wednesday 27th February 2013. The Article reads as follows:
Dozens of new affordable homes will be built in Hoddesdon as part of a £1.3m deal. Broxbourne Council and housing association B3Living have teamed up to provide 52 flats on the site in Salisbury Road for rent, shared ownership and sale on the open market.
Cllr Paul Seeby, the council's portfolio holder for housing and community development said: "This will make a significant contribution to the housing need within the borough. It's a good site, next to local parks and other amenities."
Last year B3Living and the council agreed to work together to provide affordable homes. Under this deal the council agreed to reserve £1.5m each year from 2012 - 15 to secure affordable housing for the borough's residents.
The council will hand over £1.3m for this scheme, funded partly from last year's budget and partly from the forthcoming 2013 - 14 budget. B3Living has baught two sites off Salisbury Road, the Precision Engineering site and the adjoining land, which was formerly Petron Amusements. Both sites already have permission for housing, but a new scheme will be designed by B3Living.
The council said it would ensure that priority for the housing was given to local residents. Cllr Seeby added: It's a mixed development which will create a balanced community for people who want to buy their homes outright, but also for shared ownership and affordable rent. "Providing homes for local people is a key priority for Broxbourne Council given that it's an expensive area for people to live and people do tend to earn less than the Hertfordshire average."
B3Living intends to submit a planning application soon, according to the council.
